"Now is not a Good Time to Die"
I Kings 17:8-13
With everything that is going on in this
world today, people loosing their jobs, businesses closing down,
homes being lost to foreclosure and many more different
tragedies that we see on a daily basis, it is no wonder I am
seeing more and more people who have lost all hope.
In the 17th chapter of I Kings the nation
is in the midst of experiencing a drought. The Lord instructs
Elijah to leave the brook and go to Zarephath there he would
find a widow woman who would sustain him. When Elijah comes upon
this woman he asks her for some water; as she leaves to get him
the water he also ask for a morsel of bread. She informs him
that all she has is a little meal and she had planned to make
her and her son a little bread they were going to eat it and
die. This woman had already given up hope and had resolved
herself to a destiny of death. There are so many people at this
time who have given up hope and resolved to accept a destiny
that they do not have to accept. No matter how bleak life
looks right now, no matter how dark your days may be do not give
up hope because this is not a good time to die. God has
something great in store for you. Look at what happened for this
widow woman for trusting and following the instructions of the
man of God. Elijah instructs the woman to make him a cake first.
She did as she was instructed and gave at a time when she did
not think she had anything to spare. She was blessed that her
meal nor her oil would run out before God sent rain.
God is going to pour out a shower of blessings in your life.
Whatever you do, do not give up hope and die but keep giving God
praise and keep worshipping him because this is not a good time
to die.
