Refuge II Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ was
birthed from a vision of Bishop Milton H. Hill, which is to have a
Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in every county in Alabama. At that
point in time there was not an established C.O.O.L.J.C. church in
Calhoun County. Having recently accepted his call into the
ministry, the late District Elder Connally Hill offered himself to
Bishop Hill for service and he dispatched him to begin a work for
the Lord in Anniston which is located in the heart of Calhoun
County.
In October 1986, District Elder Hill, along
with his wife, Mother Veronica Hill, organized the Refuge II Church
of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith. The church began
with 5 members, including Elder Hill. They met in a small building
located at 1715 West 13th Street. For the first year of
the church’s existence, no members were added to the church. But
through much fasting, prayer, and witnessing the congregation began
to rapidly grow. In September 1988 the congregation moved to its
present location of 2230 McKleroy Avenue. Anniston Al. Under the
pastoral leadership of District Elder Connally Hill many souls
passed through Refuge II and had their lives specially impacted.
Numerous souls were baptized, saved, healed, delivered, and
blessed. The Lord wrought various miracles through the ministry of
Elder Hill.
In April 1992, the Lord called District Elder
Hill home to his reward and Bishop Milton H. Hill stepped in as the
new pastor. Under the wise and experienced leadership of Bishop
Hill, Refuge II has continued to flourish with the blessings of
God. On October 13, 1996, the congregation was blessed to burn its
mortgage. The Lord has continued to cause his face to shine upon
Refuge II and call us blessed. Refuge II is a new millennium church
with an authentic apostolic call and anointing. Its ministry is
transforming lives for the kingdom of God.
In an effort to stay relevant with our times
in 2005, Refuge II underwent a face lift and expanded its walls.
The church doubled its seating capacity while increasing and
enlarging its classrooms and offices. Also as God continues to
enlarge the congregation’s coasts, He has bestowed upon Refuge II
the pleasure of acquiring several lots surrounding the church with a
vision towards owning the entire block.
Refuge II continues to stand strong on the
foundations that Elder Hill instilled into each member, which are
the importance of a family spirit, fellowship, anointed services,
prayer and fasting. Through this effort Refuge II continues to be
“The Place Where God Abides”. |
